"And your name is?" The man sitting across from Koi asked.
She was sitting at an empty table in a shack. The man had given her a wobbly stool and was presently recording her information.
"Koi," she responded. "Koi Sakana."
The man scribbled down something on the paper.
"And you just arrived, correct?"
"Yes... I fell through that puddle."
"Gender. Female. Species. Human, I'm assuming? Age?"
Koi hesitated for a moment.
"Well...?" The man stared at her impatiently, tapping his finger on the cracked wooden table.
"I'm seventy-one years old... and I'm a fish."
The man promptly copied it down and didn't even bat an eye.
"Type of fish?" He asked, as if it were the most ordinary thing in the world.
Koi blinked a few times. Was it really not strange?
"Koi... It's a type of freshwater carp..." She answered.
"Okay, name: Koi. Species: Koi. Not very creative, if you ask me."
The girl's cheeks flushed slightly, but she didn't say anything. In fact, she chose not to mention that her last name (Sakana) also meant "fish" in Japanese. The Head Priest had never been a particularly imaginative person, and the name he had chosen for her in the beginning was particularly dull. There were multiple times when she considered changing her name, but her name was one of the very few things that the Head Priest had ever given her. By this point, it was a memento that she was reluctant to part with.
The door to the shack opened at this point.
A little mermaid girl rushed in, panting.
"Rio! Have you seen Reason? I can't find him!" She asked.
The man helping Koi with her application turned around.
"Min? You lost track of that fairy again?" He responded.
"Never mind that! I just need to find him!" Her voice sounded desperate.
"Sorry Min, I haven't seen Rea at all."
Koi blinked a few times as she watched this exchange occur inside the shack. She had no idea whom they were talking about, but then again she had only arrived less than an hour ago.
"Who's Rea?" Koi asked.
The man turned around to face her again.
"Rea — or Reason — The best way to describe him is..."
"—a troublemaker." Min the mermaid interjected.
"He was one of the first Otherworlders to come through the Reflecting Pool," Rio explained. "However, he causes mischief everywhere he goes. I mean, he's very knowledgeable... but..."
"He showed everyone how to make paper," Min cut in.
"But only because he wanted toilet paper." Rio continued.
"And then he took several rolls and threw toilet paper all over the mayor's house!"
The mermaid sounded angry as she crossed her arms.
"Mayor Elron thinks it's MY fault now!!" The girl was furious. "If I can't find that fairy before the end of the day, he's going to have me polishing barnacles off of the fisherman's wharf for the rest of the month!"
"Min..." Rio sounded sympathetic.
"It's not my fault that I'm friends with a lot of Otherworlders!" The mermaid ranted. "The mayor doesn't know who to blame, and he doesn't want to antagonize the Guild, so he takes it out on me!"
"That sounds rough... I'm sorry you have to deal with that." Rio responded.
Koi stared at the two people expressionlessly.
The mermaid seemed to notice the fishgirl's stare. She turned around and bowed to Koi apologetically.
"Sorry for making a scene and barging in," she said. "My name is Min. I hang around the Adventurer's Guild sometimes. If you ever need any help, Mr. Rio Magriel is extremely reliable. He's one of the nicest Otherworlders around."
"Ah, okay." Koi responded awkwardly.
She wasn't really good at this social stuff. The mermaid and the man seemed to be quite close with each other already, and Koi almost felt like an intruder in this scene.
Maybe she should leave and give the two of them some space?
Rio coughed.
"Sorry about that... Miss Koi. Let's get back to your application?"
"Okay." Koi answered blankly.
She heard the door open again, and from the corner of her eye, Koi saw the mermaid waving. The girl then did something (Koi did't quite see what) before leaving, but it caused the man to smile.
However, the man said nothing and went back to work.
"Your place of birth?" He asked Koi plainly.
However, Kio could tell that he was distracted. Although Rio was sitting in front of her, the man was clearly thinking about something else.

Summary: Koi arrived at the Adventurer's Guild Shack and was filling out her application. She was helped by Otherworlder Rio Magriel. During this, Min the mermaid came in and complained about the mischievous Otherworlder fairy named Reason, who covered the mayor's house with toilet paper.
