It was a rainy day today...
...Which mean snails!
Oh dear lord, so many snails! Koi had never seen so many snails in her life. Everywhere that the fishgirl turned, she spotted snails. They were somewhat enlarged snails — about the size of a baseball — and possibly even cute if not for the fact that they were everywhere (and slimy).
Koi spent the day walking with her eyes glued to the ground.
She was paranoid about the prospect of stepping on one.
In fact, Koi accidentally kicked a little green snail, which promptly caused the little fella to snarl (snails can snarl???) at her.
—Grrr!
Erm, Koi reflexively resisted the urge to apologize.
Later in the day, Koi walked into the Adventurer's Guild shack and found a quest posting on snail extermination. She hadn't realized that there was a subjugation order for such cute little things!
Well...
The fish girl walked out the shack and stared at the massive infestation of snails slowly crawling around the village and nibbling on vegetation. Koi did suppose that perhaps too many snails was indeed a bad thing.
She found a stick and then spent the next couple of hours running around whacking snails. Apparently, if you hit them hard enough, you could stun the snail and pick it up. Koi threw a dozen of them into a bucket at a time and brought it back to the guild. It took several trips (and an exhausting amount of running around) before she got to fifty.
The snails could be feisty if they weren't stunned, by the way. They kind of wiggled in your hand and secreted this weird slimy substance that burned when Koi touched them. Regardless, Koi found it more expedient to play whack-a-mole a stick.

Summary: It rained, and there were many snails outside. Koi took the Snail Infestation quest and ran around whacking snails. The snails seem to secrete a slimy substance that burns.
