APPEARANCE:
Tama doesn't have a fixed appearance due to the shapeshifting nature of kitsune. While she has preferred the form of a young girl in her teens, she had no problem mimicking the form of a young soldier, a pregnant woman or an old geezer for her purpose. Her true form is that of two-tailed fox.
The form she defaulted to is a black-haired girl. Her height is half a head shorter than the shoulder of the common adult men in the village she resided. The hair she has is usually short, only framing her face.
PERSONALITY:
As with other of her kind, she has some measures of cunning. She preferred to lead others to do her bidding instead of doing it herself if she could do so.
HISTORY:
She hated to be being put into a spotlight. For her, as long as she could live a peaceful life, it was enough for her. With her assuming the face of a human, she had found that compared to hunting in the wild, she much preferred to make her own dish after she had learned how human had made inari zushi, a dish she had preferred compared to other she could eat at the forest. From there on, she was fascinated with the culture of human.
She at first joined the human settlement as a young man. She was there for two years, working as a farmer for the village head's field in exchange of food and lodging. After that, she met a peddler who told her about the world beyond the village. She then journeyed with the peddler, still in the guise of the young man, up until she met her first town. As they parted, she then sought the employment there, knowing from the peddler about the power of money.
With no relative to vouch for her, she was not successful in disguising herself as young boy or girl to be an apprentice. Instead, she was drafted to be an infantry in the city lord's employ. This was the point where her talent bloomed. She had to survive in the chaos of war as the city lord waged war against the surrounding region. To do so, she began to copy others, as the skill to wield a weapon was the separation between life and death in that war. While her situational awareness was tempered by the war, her ability to wield weapons had grown so much as she first mimicked and then grown to understand the skill of the skilled.
In the end, from a mere infantryman, her class was raised into that of a samurai due to her excellence. It was after she served the lord for six years that the lord had given her the option to marry into the family of lord's retinue. She took the hand offered, and marry one of the clan's daughter, and gifted with a young boy.
Problem arose when the boy had shown the talent for divination. At first it was innocuous things like predicting the weather for the next day. Then, it grew up to the prediction that the lord would suffer defeat for the next war. When that prediction went true, the lord then brought her son in the front of him. He asked her son how many oranges was in the box. Her son was able to answer that accurately. Because of that, a young boy not yet of 6 years old had became one of the strategist of the lord. The others would ask what this and that courses of action would become, and he would answer them. Because of this, the lord had won many battle with her son beside him.
On one hand, the family she was married into was elevated in status. She had been gifted her own set of horses, armor and weapons. But on the other hand, her wife had became suspicious over this. While bearing their six months embryo in her stomach, she asked her if she was not human.
It was the first time she lied with her words.
Two years later, her wife had died because of sickness, leaving her with one son and one daughter. It was then, that she realized that she loved her wife so much, that she regretted her lie. She didn't know what would happen if she had not lied. From then on, she became less enthralled with the life of a samurai. At the age of fifteen, she asked her firstborn to take care of his sister, and left.
ABILITIES:
Shapeshifting. The magic she possess at the moment was only able to change her shape into that of others. She coupled this ability with comprehension of others down to their micro gestures to assume the other's identity for the eight years she lived as two-tailed kitsune.
