"Ah, you are an Otherworlder, right? Welcome!" An aged voice resounded as Symphonia entered the hut. She was greeted by a sign of an old couple making something with their vines. The children had already gone out to swim and play, so the house was left with merely three lives.
"Come and sit with us first, young one..." As the couple beckoned, Symphonia smiled and walked to sit on the floor with them. Strangely, her body was clean, and even when she sat onto the wet floor, water seemed to not stick to her, and she was dry.
"Thank you for your kindness, elders..." In her soft, masked voice Symphonia spoke, causing the elders to stop their hands and looked at her closely, amazed by her strange, mesmerizing tone.
"... Anyway, let us begin!" It took them a full minute to regain their cool and shifted the awkwards atmosphere into a learning one. The elders at first remained silent when teaching Symphonia the basic, but slowly, they began to tell her the story of their youth.
Before they came to settle down here, they lived under the ocean freely, travelling along the coast and admiring the
coral reef. They used to stay underwater all the time and lived inside the underwater village of the Merfolks. If not for their curiosity, they would never come out on land and met with the Oracle, making them fell in love with the fresh air of the forest and the sunset aboveground.
"Time surely flies fast, huh? It still feels like we have just come to Myrtle Island yesterday." Tying a knot, the elder spoke without any pause. They had been on land for many years now, and the couple did not intend to go back to the underwater. As their body aged, moving underwater required too much energy for their old physique, so they preferred to live aboveground.
"It was a shock for us that one day the Oracle disappeared, but I'm sure that she'll come back one day..." Talking about the Oracle, Symphonia learnt that she was a wonderful, kind figure, having great wisdom and loving disposition. She was the one who taught the current mayor of Myrtle Village, and the mayor respected her as his teacher.
Soon, time flied, and before everyone knew it, the children had already come back as the sun was setting. They had been making ropes since noon, and a pile of freshly-made ropes was beside Symphonia. Although it was hard and tiring, she enjoyed the mundane, ordinary life of the elderly.
"I won't be bothering you anymore, goodbye, elders." Symphonis spoke for the second time, and this time her voice was even more quiet and soft than before. The elders almost couldn't hear it, but their smile indicated that they indeed knew about her gratitude. Although she was once an ordinary lady, she knew that if she did not learn necessary survival skills, she would not be able to live a good life in this strange new world.
In the end, Symphonia left despite the invitation for dinner of the elders. She headed towards the familiar shack at the outskirt of the village.
Summery: Symphonia went to learn how to make a rope and tie the knots from an elderly couple. The couple told her about their youth, as well as some information about the Oracle. Symphonia learnt a little about an underwater village of the Merfolks.
