Papermaking
SPONSOR: Adventurer's Guild (Myrtle Island)
DESCRIPTION:
The Adventurer's Guild uses a lot of paper every day. Thankfully, paper mulberry grows on this island, so some talented Otherworlders were able to figure out how to recreate paper. It's better than buying paper, and we sell any extra on the market!
To make paper, I need you to harvest branches of the paper mulberry tree. We'll soak the branches in water for a few days to loosen the bark. Then we'll steam it, strip the bark, and then boil it for several hours with ash to extract the fibers. Next, we'll pound the fibers into pulp, lay it on a strainer, and leave it to dry. This entire process will take about a week, but you don't have to be here all the time.

✴Paper?✴
~Lyndis Valcove - Q5~
Lyndis sighed softly to herself, after hunting for wild paper mulberry trees for what seemed like an eternity within the Myral Mistwood. Finally plopping her butt down on a nearby stump, she pondered her life decisions when she came to a sudden realization.
Right in front of her, was more than a dozen paper mulberry trees! Sighing again, this time more out of annoyance than anything else, she cut down some of the longer branches and returned to the guild.
After tying them into a bundle and laying them in a shallow basin, she left them to soak for a couple of days.
Afterwards, she stripped the dark outer layer of the branches using her talons, revealing its beautiful pale-white inner bark. This process took quite a lot of time, consuming a large portion of her day to her surprise.
Then, she left them to boil for a while in a pot filled with ash, finally able to go about her daily chores.
Then, she placed them on a straining screen and shook the tool around to evenly distribute the fibres into a paper-like structure, whilst allowing the water to freely drip into the ground and be absorbed.
Finally, using a plate of strange material which conducted heat well, she placed the paper out in the sun to dry.

Some time later, Lyndis returned to her softened branches and set to work. Immediately, she placed them straight up into a boiling pot and started a fire beneath them, wandering around idly as she watched them steam.Afterwards, she stripped the dark outer layer of the branches using her talons, revealing its beautiful pale-white inner bark. The next morning she collected the softened bark with faintly seperated fibres and pounded them into a giant pulp to seperate them further.
