After a somewhat troubling experience at the Abandoned Cove, Koi decided to take it easy and stay near the village. The simplest way, of course, was to stay around the Guild Shack.
While "desk work" was not quite something that Koi had been particularly familiar with in her past, how hard could it be? Anybody could shuffle papers and stamp things, right?
Koi Sakana was horribly mistaken.
Part of it was because she misunderstood to extent that she needed to interact with random strangers who came in from the front door. Of course, it was easy if they went straight up to the receptionist desk, or if more of them were excellent communicators, but there were also plenty of people who just...
...loitered...
They didn't do anything except stand around aimlessly.
Staring at the wall.
Like you know that horrible feeling when window-shoppers come in and spend hours staring at the shelves without buying anything?
Were you supposed to approach them? Were you supposed to make small talk? Or perhaps you were supposed to ask if they needed help? Some of them looked... preoccupied... doing whatever kind of suspicious things that suspicious guests did.
Never mind the fact that only a minority of them were ordinary humans. Some of them were creepy-looking and there was at least one tentacle monster in the shack. It was like something out of a horror movie!
The Otherworlders seemed to be an odd bunch.
If Koi was bad at socializing, there were plenty of Otherworlders who were apparently even worse. In fact, their awkwardness probably exceeded 9000. It gave Koi the receptionist this creepy feeling that they were going to say something, but instead they ended up standing around and staring expressionlessly for the entirety of the shift.
Goodness, those blank stares.
In the end, Koi only filed three Quest Reports and assisted with one Registration. However, the Shack was never empty during the day. It always seemed filled with people who just... like to stand there? There was tentacle monster Cthulhu-thing who stood there the whole time.
She wondered if she should try to strike a conversation next time...

Summary: Koi worked as a receptionist for the day, and it was quiet. However, there were creepy Otherworlders (notably a Cthulhu) who liked to loiter around the shack during the day, and made Koi feel awkward.
