APPEARANCE
At first look, Phyla appears to be a young dark-skinned human lady with silver hair and ochre ornamental markings. She has a developed and muscular body with green eyes. Oddly she appears to have flowers/plants growing in her hair, but otherwise she can easily pass for human.
However, the truth is that Phyla is not the girl that most people see. In fact, the human girl is a corpse, and Phyla is the plant that lives in and controls the corpse. Basically, she is a type of zombie/parasite plant, although Phyla is very sensitive about being called a "parasite" and will adamantly insist that she actually an epiphyte.
Phyla takes very good care of her body, and it is neither rotting nor zombie-like. Phyla photosynthesizes/eats regularly, maintains a circulation, and provides all the nutrients and others necessities to maintain a healthy corpse. She smells perfectly fine (in fact, like a flower) and her skin feels like (living) human skin. Although her body temperature is a bit lower than normal, her body is generally just like a living one.
As a plant/mushroom, Phyla often sprouts plant-like features such as flowers, vines, fruit, or mushrooms. It honestly varies by the season, but normally she blooms around once a month. When she fruits, she grows a number of strawberry-like fruit in her hair that can be plucked and eaten.

Phyla is an extrovert who has been forced into isolation due to her circumstances as a zombie plant. She is naturally clingy, friendly, talkative, and affectionate. She loves hugs and other forms of casual physical contact. When given attention, Phyla practically sparkles like a needy plant that is watered or showered with sunlight.
That said, at times Phyla can also be dramatic. She easily takes things to extremes, jumps to misleading conclusions (e.g. "He hates me!!! T_T"), and over-interprets cues in ways that they were not intended. Phyla's personality exists on extremes, and she often swings from gushing love and adoration to melodramatic theatrics about how her flowers from this month are slightly wilt-y and what that means for the end of the world.

Photosynthesis. Phyla is plant. She photosynthesizes and grows flowers/fruit/mushrooms on her head. Actually, she can eat normal food too, although photosynthesis is just another part of her diet. If she doesn't receive enough sunlight for a while, her plant-parts begin to wilt.
